Sweetgrass Basket Workshop at The Charleston Museum
Event Details
Learn to make traditional sweetgrass baskets with the Charleston Museum and basket maker Sarah Edwards-Hammond on June 19, July 9 and August 20 from 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Mrs. Edwards-Hammond comes from a long line of basket makers and has passed down the tradition to her own children, grandchildren and others in the community. The instructor will share a brief history of this artform, then participants get started sewing their own basket. Workshop fee includes a starter and all supplies. No experience required; program is designed for adults.
