From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Hutchinson Square will be the center of old-fashioned family fun with musical entertainment provided by Bad Moon Band.

Red, White and Blue on the Green will feature games, face-painting, and jump castles along with a watermelon-eating contest sponsored by businesses and community organizations. Access to all the activities is available with a $3 wristband ($2 for military families). Food vendors will be on hand to offer lots of summer favorites for purchase. There will be a costume contest for the best patriotic garb—the Uncle Sam and Miss Liberty contest sponsored by People, Places & Quilts. The winners will help our mayor lead off the highlight of the night—our non-motorized parade at 7 p.m. Decorated bicycles and wagons as well families and pets parade around the park and the most original and best decorated entrants are awarded prizes.

Fun will continue in Summerville on July 4th as the fireworks display will be held the following Monday night at Gahagan Park. The fireworks are slated to begin at shortly after dusk.
