So You Thought You Could Spell Spelling Bee at The Alley

Event Details

To help bring awareness to the Be A Mentor organization, The Alley Charleston will host the first annual So You Thought You Could Spell Spelling Bee.

This fun, free and engaging event will feature some of the city’s top local celebrities and community leaders who will have to successfully spell a series of words for a live audience.

Modeled after the Scripps National Spelling Bee but with adult contestants and a lot less seriousness, there will be several rounds to give participants a chance to be crowned the winner.

Writer and humor blogger Bryce Donovan will be the event emcee and some of the confirmed spellers include:



-Stephanie Barna, Charleston City Paper

-Darcy Shankland, Charleston magazine

-Colleen Condon, Charleston County Council

-Ayoka Lucas, Stylist, Blogger and Charleston Fashion Week Director

-Steve Palmer, Indigo Road Group

-Chris Frasier, Charleston County School District
