Event Details

The sport of “Canicross” (trail running with your dog) comes to Charleston on Sunday, October 26th, 2014 on the historic fox hunting and equestrian trails at Middleton to benefit local pet rescue organizations.

Rarely enjoyed by the public, the 6,000 acre plot across the street from the formal gardens at Middleton Place, will host trail runners, dogs and families. Guests will enjoy the lakes, forests and fields; home to wild turkeys, hawks and deer.

Gates open at 2:00 with the first wave of runners hitting the trails at 3:00.

The events also includes music, food trucks, a full- scale pet expo and a Huck Finn Village on one of the many lakes on the property. It is the perfect opportunity for competitive runners to bring along the whole family and make a day of it. Family events planned for the day include stone skipping, kayaking, a kids’ steeple chase, retrieval and dog splash zone, a geocaching-style scavenger hunt, dog demos, raft building and cane pole fishing.
