Join Hampton Plantation State Historic Site and Nature Adventures Outfitters for a kayak tour of the hand-dug irrigation canals of Hampton Island, one of the main ricefields of Hampton Plantation.
In plantation times, Lowcountry waterways served as a network of transportation for settlers and slaves. These rivers and creeks played a vital role in the success of rice cultivation. A guided tour of the Santee River and Wambaw Creek is an adventurous way to explore the history of the rice culture.
Join a master naturalist for a paddle down the lower end of Wambaw Creek and then meet an interpretive ranger at Hampton Plantation State Historic Site for a guided tour of the 18th-century mansion house.
Be prepared to get wet and muddy, and bring a change of clothes, insect repellent, a snack, and water.
An adult must accompany participants age 17 and younger.
Event hour paddle times can vary according to the oceanic tides and program focus so please call for details.
Tickets: $25/child (12 and under) and $35/adult
