On Thursday, Sept. 11 the Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum will be holding a ceremony in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 men, women and children who we lost 13 years ago. The ceremony will be landside of the USS YORKTOWN and will begin at 8:45 a.m. This will include a free ceremony with the singing of “God Bless America,” a moment of silence and a traditional gun salute. Members of the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department will lay a wreath at the base of the museum’s flag pole.
In addition, there will be a program onboard the USS YORKTOWN that will last the entire day. Visitors will be able to watch a special video we have created in the ship’s Hangar Bay III and then cast a flower into the Charleston Harbor in memory of those who were killed in the terrorist attacks.
