Lift Every Voice

On February 8, 2014 at 4:30PM, Mt. Zion AME Church will host Lowcountry Voices under the direction of Nathan L. Nelson. This musical will premiere its newest signature theme concert-"Anthems, Hymns, and Spirituals". In light of the recent passing of one of the world's greatest leaders, Nelson Mandela, the concert will be a musical salute to the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela.

The choir will pay homage to Nelson Mandela through the singing of selections such as Precious Lord, My Tribute, Roland Carter's Lift Every Voice and Sing, and In Bright Mansions. Mr. Roland Carter, noted composer/arranger of African American Spirituals, will conduct several of his noted pieces with the Lowcountry Voices choir. In addition, Ms. Vivian E. Jones, a well known, well respected musician and choral director in the Lowcountry, will also direct the choir in several hymns and anthems. Nathan L. Nelson, the Director of LCV, will conclude the program with several uplifting, spirited, traditional and contemporary gospel selections.
