Charleston Jazz Orchestra, Charleston’s own resident big band, continues its 6th Anniversary Season on Saturday, September 20, 2014, presenting Buena Vista, CJO’s annual Latin Night performance. CJO presents at the band’s House of Swing, the Charleston Music Hall.
Two sets will be performed, 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., with no intermission. Adult tickets $30-$45. Senior tickets $25-$40. Seniors qualify at 65 years of age. Student ticket rates vary. All student and discounted tickets must be purchased in person. On-site box office sales the day of the show begin at 12 p.m. at the Charleston Music Hall. CJO’s annual popular staple, Latin Night, is next up in the fourth show of the ensemble’s sixth season. Music Director and Conductor, Maestro Charlton Singleton, will lead the band through a sizzling evening acknowledging the unique contributions of traditional Cuban music to the idiom we know today as Latin Jazz, this year celebrating the incredible repertoire of the Buena Vista Social Club.
Immediately following the 8 p.m. performance, JAC will welcome contributors to Victor’s Social Club, 39-F John Street, for THE CODA: VIP Post-Show Jam Music. Meet. Mingle., an exclusive post-show reception and jazz jam featuring special guest artists including Garage Cuban Band's Bill Carson (guitar/vocals) and Jack Burg (percussion), bassist Jake Holwegner, and members of your Charleston Jazz Orchestra!
