Joseph Manigault House Tour
Event Details
This December, The Garden Club of Charleston will, once again, bring holiday spirit into the Joseph Manigault House, adorning its rooms, hallways, and stairways with greenery, flowers, fruits, feathers, ribbons, and more! These spectacular arrangements will celebrate the first half of the 19th century by highlighting and reminiscing the era as Charleston families would have remembered it. Furthering this theme, the décor will incorporate the essence of traditional celebrations by intertwining Christmas carols and popular books along with decorative objects from the period. While the Manigault family would not have historically celebrated Christmas in this home (traditionally, the winter months were spent at their rice plantation), The Charleston Museum and The Garden Club of Charleston are pleased to bring some holiday cheer inside the beautiful antebellum walls for visitors to enjoy! The decorations will remain on display in the Manigault House from December 6 - 31.
On December 6, The Charleston Museum will host a Holiday Decoration Celebration, allowing attendees to explore the Joseph Manigault House and view the floral adornments at their own pace, with docents in each room. Warm drinks and sweet treats (Holy City Popcorn Co. will be there with special holiday batches) will be provided on the porch while Christmas music, provided by The Charleston Caroling Company, sounds within the walls. The house will be open for this event from 3 - 5 pm.
Regular admission prices apply: FREE for Members, $10 for adults, $5 for children (3 - 12), children under 3 are FREE.
