I'On Village Summer Concert Series

Presented by the Colour of Festival Chamber Music Series, Atlanta-based African-American chamber trio, KAJ Trio, will present a special concert honoring Juneteenth.

Juneteenth, the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States dates back to 1865, when on June 19 Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the War had ended and the enslaved were now free. This event was two and a half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, which had become official January 1, 1863.

The KAJ Trio, consisting of the Joyner brothers Khari, Amyr and Jarin have been delighting audiences with their unique virtuosity and musicality. Trained at some of the most prestigious music schools in the country including The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, Oberlin College and Peabody Conservatory, the brothers have performed throughout the US and abroad to great acclaim and in high-profile concerts.

Concert starts at 7:00pm
Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students. You can visit the website listed or call the number provided to order tickets in advance, or pay cash or check at the door.
