Holiday Decorations at the Joseph Manigault House

Event Details

From December 3-31, 2011 the Joseph Manigault House will be decorated for the holidays. Each year, the Garden Club of Charleston uses this Adam-style house as a backdrop for their creative arrangements, using only live plant materials that would have been available in the Lowcountry during the 19th century. This year's theme is "Charleston's Antebellum Charm".

Visitors may view the holiday decorations as part of the regular public tour. Regular admission is $10/adult, $5/child 3-12 and under 3 and members free. Hours of operation for the Joseph Manigault House are Monday-Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 1-5; tours on the hour and half hour. About the Joseph-Manigault House
The Joseph Manigault House, built in 1803, is a premier example of Adam-style, or Federal, architecture. Designed by gentleman architect Gabriel Manigault for his brother Joseph, the house is one of the most distinguished in the city, capturing the lifestyle of a wealthy, rice-planting family. The interior reflects an outstanding collection of American, English and French furnishings of the period. A charming Gate Temple is the focus of the period Garden.
