Thursday, Nov. 10 at 6p.m.
Light refreshments will be served.
This lecture will focus on two archaeological excavations - the walled city excavations at South Adger's Wharf in 2008 and 2009 and the more recent excavations at the Lord Ashley site in 2011. Through controlled excavation and analysis of the artifacts recovered at these sites, we are already discovering more about the early history of Charleston and South Carolina.
Katherine Saunders, HCF associate director of preservation, will discuss methods used by archaeologists to tease information out of the soil. She will showcase new and emerging science and technologies that are being used to help us understand what the Adger's Wharf and Lord Ashley sites have to tell us about life in early Charleston.
