Former Governor of Texas, Rick Perry, to speak to The Citadel Republican Society

Texas’s longest-serving governor, Rick Perry, will visit Charleston, South Carolina, to speak with The Citadel Republican Society at noon on April 6. The event will be held in Mark Clark Hall’s Buyer Auditorium.

Perry graduated from Texas A&M University in 1972 and commissioned into the Air Force and served for five years. In 1984, he was elected to the Texas House of Representatives and served three two-year terms in office. Over the course of his political career, he served as the agriculture commissioner, lieutenant governor, and governor of Texas until Jan. 2015, when he retired.

The Citadel Republican Society is the official campus auxiliary of the Republican Party on the campus of The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina. The Citadel Republican Society is the largest club on campus and one of the most active. Each year The Citadel Republican Society works on various campaigns, supports conservatives’ causes, and gives back to the community.
