Civil War Living History Event: Fashion
Event Details
Continuing its commemorative programming for the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War, the Charleston Museum once again teams up with the Carolina Ladies Aid Society to offer a Civil War Fashion Try-on event.
On Saturday, July 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., discover what it was like to wear those wide mid-19th century hoops or how (un)comfortable the seemingly endless layers of clothing or wool uniforms might have been.
The Carolina Ladies Aid Society will set up a photographer's studio and have dresses, men's jackets, children's clothing, hats, bonnets, fans, and more available for try-on.
The museum's photographer will take guests' formal portrait in the mid-19th century carte de visite style. Guests are encouraged to bring their cameras as well.
This Civil War living history program is free with general Museum admission ($10/adult, $5/child 3-12, under three and members free).
For more information, please visit the website or call the number listed.
Please note: this well-attended program is held on a first come, first served basis, with photography ending promptly at 1:00 p.m.
