Cinderella - Rags to Riches
Rags to riches ballet offers special ticket rates and costume contest for the kids.
In honor of the classic rags to riches story of a beautiful young girl dreaming of meeting her Prince Charming, Charleston Ballet Theatre is offering special priced tickets to their one day only Mainstage performance of the company’s celebrated Cinderella ballet.
Originally planned for a shorter verison in the company’s annual Children’s Series of family-friendly dance performances, CBT decided to return the ballet back to its full length origins for a full-on revival during its current 25th Anniversary season. As a special ‘thank you’ to families and patrons for their loyal support of the company’s more family-centric fare, the ballet will be offering Rags to Riches special ticket rates for this Mainstage show with adult prices ranging from $20 - $30 (lower than regular Mainstage ticket rates) and all children’s tickets to the show will be only $12.
COSTUME CONTEST WINNER RECEIVES CINDERELLA’S SLIPPERS
The ultimate rags to riches fairy tale, Cinderella has long been a favorite of CBT audiences, with a majority of children in attendance coming in full costume as princesses, princes and even stepsisters to celebrate the magic of this most elaborate fairy tale ballet. ‘The last time we performed Cinderella just about ever kid that walk through the door were dressed in their finest fairy tale attire. We are certrainly encouraging that again this time around!” states Marketing Director Kyle Barnette. Children who come in costume will be entered into the Cinderella costume contest with the winner receiving a meet and greet with Cinderella and presented with the ballerina’s own pointe shoes from the performance.
Dancing the role of Cinderella is CBT dance company newcomer Crystal Wellman. Crystal has trained at North Carolina School of the Arts, Atlanta Ballet and The Joffrey Ballet and danced for companies such as Montgomery Ballet and Oklahoma City Ballet. Cinderella will mark her first lead role with CBT.
Featuring a magnificent score by Prokofiev and exquisitely colorful costumes and set design, Resident Choreographer Jill Eathorne Bahr's Cinderella is a magical full length ballet extravaganza. Surrounded by a fairy godmother, two truly hideous and preening stepsisters, a handsome prince, a glass slipper and a horse drawn carriage, Cinderella takes the audience with her on a journey with the fairies of the four seasons in what has become one of the world's greatest and most celebrated classical ballets.
