Charleston Tavern Tour Special Event

Discover what’s behind the old saying, “When the Dutch settled they always built a fort first, the Spanish always built a church first, and the English always built a tavern first!”

Join the Charleston Tavern Tour guides on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. for an exclusive pub tour of Charleston’s historic district. The tour covers the entertaining history of alcohol in Charleston and includes stops at some of the city’s favorite pubs. This event will begin at The Powder Magazine museum (79 Cumberland St.) with a special introduction about Colonial brewing.

The tour kicks off with Frank McMahon, guest historical interpreter (Fort Dobbs, NC State Historic Site) and avid home brewer, who will introduce historical brewing techniques and the significance of beer in early America. Guests will then enjoy a three-hour pub hop led by period-dressed historians and have the option to purchase food and libations at several Charleston taverns.

Reservations required! Event tickets are $20. Call ahead for our special TWO FOR ONE rate! Price includes admission to The Powder Magazine museum. Tickets are limited to 40 guests.
