On Saturday, March 17, as part of the Art and Antiques Forum, the Charleston Horticultural Society is organizing an exclusive tour of several private gardens along with public spaces that help define our great horticultural history. Our licensed guides will introduce you to some of the people, places and plants that made Charleston what it is today, a gardening mecca! Charlestonians’ recognize lovely gardens and rich agricultural bounties as an everyday way of life. Our city has always been on the cutting edge of the latest plant and garden trends as well as being the first to have a new selection. Along with being a port city where the plants came through the Custom House, the Old Exchange, our rich climate and fertile soil, it was inevitable that Charleston become a leader in horticulture.
