Charles Ailstock’s first solo show at Corrigan Gallery llc will open with a reception on Friday, January 18, 2013. This will be a presentation of his new fine art prints made using acrylic cutouts, as well as his woodcuts.
“Theory and Practice,” exhibited from January 18 to February 16, shows the artist’s focus on experimentations with color and abstract printmaking. As a painter and printmaker who opened Artizom Frame Gallery in 2003, Ailstock is devoted to pushing to new horizons.
Born in 1976 Charleston, SC, Charles F. Ailstock, Jr. graduated with a BFA in Studio Art from the College of Charleston in 2000 garnering a departmental honors’ award. He received the Print Studio South scholarship that same year.
He first worked as the Halsey Institute as preparator from 2000 - 2003 and for Charleston City Gallery at Waterfront Park – doing the same work.
He received the College of Charleston Alumni Award for Philanthropy 2011 and is a member of both the Halsey Institute Board of Advisors and Founders Circle and the Gibbes Society 1858 Board.
