The Charleston Museum welcomes back professional calligrapher Natasha Lawrence for two calligraphy workshops on Saturday, August 3.
Introduction to Calligraphy will be held 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and participants will explore the practical art of calligraphy to address wedding invitations, holiday cards and personal correspondence.
All materials are included: calligraphy pen to keep, practice paper, workbook and more.
During the afternoon Calligraphy II workshop (1:00-4:00 p.m.) students learn additional practical and artistic applications of "everyday" calligraphy.
This workshop includes learning cursive italics and fancy lettering, adding flourishes to enhance letters, working with colored pens and making an impression with decorative envelopes. All materials provided. Preferred: previous calligraphy experience or Introduction to Calligraphy workshop.
Each workshop is $30/member, $40/non-member. Advance reservations are required. Register online through the calendar of events at the website or call the number listed.
Early registration is strongly encouraged as sessions typically sell out quickly. These workshops are designed for adults.
