Calligraphy for Beginners and Brides-to-be

The Charleston Museum welcomes back professional calligrapher Natasha Lawrence for two calligraphy workshops for adults on Saturday, March 8.

Introduction to Calligraphy will be held 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. and participants will explore the art of fine handwriting to address wedding invitations, holiday cards and personal correspondence. Lawrence will provide instruction on writing with calligraphy pens in the classic Italian Italics lettering style. All materials are included: calligraphy pen to keep, practice paper, workbook and more.

During the afternoon Wedding Calligraphy workshop (12:45-3:15 p.m.) students learn to hand-address wedding and special event invitation envelopes in beautiful calligraphy. This workshop includes instruction and individual guidance on creating elegant lettering styles, wedding envelope examples, guest list preparation and stationery selection. All materials provided. Preferred: previous calligraphy experience or Introduction to Calligraphy workshop.

Each workshop is $35/member, $40/non-member. Advance reservations are required; early registration is strongly recommended as these workshops typically sell out well in advance. Register online on the website listed above.
