Birdwatching for Beginners

Recreational birdwatching has become one of America’s favorite and fastest growing outdoor activities. While many might assume that birding is just for adults, the Center for Birds of Prey (http://thecenterforbirdsofprey.org/) strives to offer this interesting activity to young enthusiasts and their families with a new native bird walk targeted especially for the beginner. No gear or experience is required and binoculars will be available for a nominal rental fee.

Birds reveal much to us about the natural world. With more than 10,000 species dispersed throughout the world, they can teach us about diversity, geography, food web dynamics, all of which fosters a greater understanding and respect for healthy ecosystems. And, they inspire us with flight and their amazing adaptations that allow them to succeed in an ever challenging world.

Join experienced birding guides for an introductory bird walk ideal for the novice birder. After the walk, guests are invited to join the regular morning bird of prey tour and flight demonstrations at no additional cost.

These walks are scheduled for July 11th and August 1st from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Admission is $15 for members of the Center and $20 for non-members. Space is limited for these two special bird walks and advanced reservations are required. Reservations can be made online (https://www.zerve.com/BirdsofPrey/SCbirds) or by calling 843.971.7474.
