April 1 Sunday 11:00 AM
Cape Romain Lighthouses Tour! A slide presentation on the history of the two lighthouses will be presented at the Sewee Center at 11 a.m.
Following the presentation, participants will drive to the McClellanville boat landing and board the Coastal Expeditions Island Cat Ferry at 12:30 p.m. to travel to the Island. The ferry will return at 4 p.m. Cost = $45.00.

Youth Orienteering Competition! Jonathan Malriat, Eagle Scout, has designed several courses not only to introduce youth to orienteering but challenge the veteran navigator. The courses can be done in a group or individually. Welcome all Boy, Girl and non-scouts! The perfect introduction to geo-caching. Register by calling the Center! Program Cost is $3.00!

The Santee Experimental Forest will celebrate its 75th Anniversary! Established in 1937 within the Francis Marion National Forest, the Santee Experimental Forest is a focal point for forest and environmental research. The all-day event, which starts at 9:00 a.m. will include presentations, exhibits and displays, and a field tour. For more information and to register, call Juanita Lockwood (843) 336-5611.

Nature Adventures Kayak & Canoe on Chicken Creek! Come paddle on a unique blackwater creek nestled in the Francis Marion National Forest. Encompassing Cedar Hill Island, you’ll stop and have lunch and look for wetland wading birds and neo-tropical migrants like prothonotary warblers along the way. Francis Marion National Forest Botanical Hike
Spend a morning identifying native plants with the Native Plant Society members in the Francis Marion National Forest. Bring field guides, wear comfortable shoes, lunch, water, and bring bug spray. Meet at the Sewee Center to leave promptly at 9:00. Car pooling is strongly encouraged!

Loggerhead Sea Turtle Project Presentation & Volunteer Meeting at the Sewee Visitor Center! Not a volunteer yet? Still come and see what turtle crews do & what research has been gleaned from their labor.

Sewee is continuing the Boy Scout Merit Badge Program Environmental Science II. Missed Part I? Hakuna matata (no problem, no worry) just join in the fun! Sewee counselor will review numerous ways to conserve and use resources more efficiently at home, school & camp. Scouts will visit two very different outdoor study areas and document the type of plant species, their number and coverage.
