African American Heritage Festival

In honor of Black History month, educators throughout the Lowcountry and beyond are invited to bring their students to experience a special event hosted by the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission in February.

Celebrating the traditions and histories of Africa and the Diaspora, the African American Heritage Festival will take place at North Charleston Wannamaker County Park on Friday, Feb. 26.

From it's roots in Africa to the Americas, and especially South Carolina, elementary and middle school students will be immersed in African American culture and history through a variety of activities including demonstrations, reenactments, performances and hands-on experiences.
