"The Road Home" Charleston Premiere

"The Road Home" is a one-act play created from personal accounts of people who were caught in the maelstrom of the early years of the Civil War. It explores many different lives, including wives, soldiers', diplomats, doctors and nurses tales, the moving opinions of Frederick Douglass, General Beauregard and others, all wrapped in music that spurred the hearts of both sides as they fought, prayed and longed for home. The play previewed in Hilton Head for the Lowcountry Civil War Roundtable. Robert Eberly, former president said, “I highly recommend "The Road Home," it brings the Civil War to life in poignant vignettes, beautifully tied together with great music." The production is produced by The South Carolina Historical Society and Actors' Theatre of South Carolina, creating a unique combination of professional theater and historical reality.

Clarence Felder, a Broadway, film and TV veteran is leading the cast of the production which is adapted and directed by Felder, Michael Easler, and Chris Weatherhead who co-star with Tyler Ilgen and Abigail Kamerad. Together they bring to life a dozen captivating people caught in the shifting tides of the conflict. A number of songs are woven into the piece, accompanied by Easler on the guitar and sung by the cast.
