Event Details

2nd Sunday on King Street, Charleston's popular shopping, dining and cultural event, continues. From 1:00-5:00 PM King Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic from Queen Street north to Calhoun as businesses invite everyone to enjoy the best shopping, dining and services the region has to offer, both on the sidewalks and in the street.

Street musicians have discovered 2nd Sunday and dot the street at regular intervals providing a diverse sound track. Popular blues musician Sollie "Puddin" Jenkins is a popular draw, as is quirky accordion player Matt Lohan. The musicians enjoy publicity and the exposure to 2nd Sunday crowds.

The South Carolina Watermedia Society will offer a sneak preview of their upcoming exhibition at the Charleston City Gallery at the information tent, with a drawing to win an original "post card" painting by one of the group's prestigious artists. There will also be a drawing for a Bottega Brandini Bag. The information tent will be located near Wentworth and King.

East Cooper CARTA Riders Group will come en masse from Mt. Pleasant on the busses, organized by Charleston attorney William Hamilton, an advocate for public transportation.

2nd Sunday favorite King of Pops will serve gourmet popsicles made with Savannah Bee's new Charleston honey at 216 King Street.

Charleston Mercury cartoonist, Nancy Lucas, will sign her first book in a series of five Springer Spaniel Mysteries at the Charleston Preservation Society Book & Gift Shop at 147 King Street.

Impressionist painter Rick Reinert will continue painting his plein air King Street Series in front of his gallery at 179 King Street.

Parking vouchers for two hours of free parking in most City Garaages will be available online at www.2ndsundayonkingstreet.com and at the information tent. Many of the parking garages on Upper King Street have become popular for 2nd Sunday, where restaurants Halls Chophouse, The Macintosh, The Swamp Fox, Closed for Business offer Sunday brunch.
