23rd Annual Town of Mount Pleasant Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival
In Your Date Range
The 23rd Annual Town of Mount Pleasant Blessing of the Fleet and Seafood Festival presented by East Cooper Medical Center, is moving to Memorial Waterfront Park with a full slate of activities to delight everyone. “We are aware that such a change of venue will impact the ‘look’ of the festival, but we want to make sure that the ‘feel’ remains the same,” said Town event planner Su McManus-Frost. “The favorite activities you have come to love and expect at the festival will all be there with enough new additions to give the blessing a unique twist."
Blessing of the Fleet activities include local seafood from East Cooper restaurants, live music by East Coast Party Band and Permanent Vacation, shag and shrimp eating contests, a juried craft show, an art display by the Mount Pleasant Artists Guild, Sweetgrass basket displays, children’s activities and marine and reptile exhibits.
The festival will begin at 11:30 am; followed by a procession on the pier at 12:45 pm and the blessing of the fleet at 1 pm. Permanent Vacation will begin playing at 1:45 pm, followed by the East Coast Party Band from 3-6 pm. The Shag and Shrimp Eating contests will begin at 4:20 pm and the festival will conclude at 6 pm.
The Blessing of the Fleet is sponsored and supported by the Town of Mount Pleasant Office of Community Development & Tourism, the Accommodations Tax Committee, and the Blessing of the Fleet Committee. Admission and onsite parking are FREE.
