Dubbed one of the Top 20 Tourist Attractions by the Southeast Tourist Society, the annual Lowcountry Oyster Roast promises a day of unique thrills at Boone Hall Plantation!
Two tractor-trailer loads of oysters - more than 65,000 pounds - will be trucked onto the grounds of Boone Hall Plantation for the World's Largest Oyster Roast. The event, which can accommodate 10,000 visitors, is expected to once again sell out, so be sure to make your plans soon! Special contests, entertainment, and activities are scheduled throughout the day, including the popular Oyster Shucking Contest and the Oyster Eating Contest. Local chefs will be judged on their prize oyster recipe, while live music will be provided by fantastic local bands on the main stage.
A special kid's area will feature a Best Dressed Oyster Contest, plus plenty of other games and activities. Visitors can buy oysters by the bucket, complete with cocktail sauce and crackers, and beer, soft drinks & other drinks will be available for purchase. Several local restaurants will also be on hand at the Food Court for those who would like something other than the oysters to snack on! Be sure not to miss out on one of Charleston's top annual events at the Lowcountry Oyster Festival!
