Chamber Music Charleston to perform on Old Exchange Summer Concert Series

Chamber Music Charleston will present three chamber music concerts at the Old Exchange Building during the months of June, July and August. Each of these intimate evenings of exceptional music begins with a reception at 6pm in the SCDAR room, followed by the concert at 7pm in the historic Great Hall.

On Tuesday, June 17, 2008 CMC will present a program of music including Corelli’s Sonata in D minor for cello and harpsichord, Handel’s German Arias for soprano, violin, cello and harpsichord, Piazzolla’s “L’Histoire du Tango” for violin and cello and Hailstork’s Baroque Sonata for violin and harpsichord. Performing musicians include Suzanne Fleming-Atwood, soprano; Frances Hsieh, violin; Timothy O’Malley, cello and Julia Harlow, harpsichord.

On Tuesday, July 15 CMC will present a program of music including Prokofiev’s String Quartet No. 2 in F Major, Op. 92 and Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 59 No. 2 in e minor. Performing musicians include violinists Megan Allison and Alan Molina, violist Gretchen Fraizer and cellist Timothy O’Malley.

On Tuesday, August 19 CMC will present a program of music including Francaix Divertissement for oboe, clarinet and bassoon and Vivaldi’s Concerto for oboe, clarinet, bassoon and harpsichord. Performing musicians include Mark Gainer, oboe; Charles Messersmith, clarinet; Sandra Nikolajevs, bassoon and Julia Harlow, harpsichord.

Chamber Music Charleston is a non profit performing arts organization dedicated to developing the audience for classical music through chamber music concerts, including the signature Charleston House Concerts, and educational performances of high artistic quality by musicians of the Lowcountry.
