Brochure Service

To participate, contact: Angelique Butler
The CACVB receives inquiries about visiting our area via our toll-free phone lines through the Inquiry Service, online through explorecharleston.com, as well as written requests. These prospective visitors are actively seeking ideas for how to spend their time and money when they visit the Charleston area! Our staff processes the Charleston Area Visitors Guide to respond to the request for information. Brochure Service offers you the unique opportunity to include your company's information in this response packet.

Visitors May Choose from the Following Categories of Interest:
  • African American Interests
  • Arts/ Culture
  • Attractions & Tours
  • Beach Rentals
  • Dining
  • Family Activities
  • Golf & Golf Packages
  • Lodging
  • Outdoor Recreation
  • Outlets/ Shopping
  • Weddings
How it works:
You simply supply us with your brochure and we do the rest- while saving you more than 25% on postage, plus the cost of mailing supplies and labor!

Travel Council Members may choose to participate in any of the Category (Categories) of Interest listed above. Participants supply the CACVB with bulk quantities of their promotional materials. Ideally, brochure size is the standard 4" X 9" measurement. (Promotional materials exceeding this size may be accommodated, based on space availability, and are subject to additional costs.) Editorial content of the brochure must be approved by the CACVB in order to be eligible for participation in the service.

Our staff will process and send your brochure via first-class mail only to those inquiries that request information for your specific Category of Interest.

The cost for a standard 4" X 9" brochure, the cost to participate is calculated at 73% of the first-class postage rate, based on weight. (A standard brochure that mails for .49 cents would be charged .36 cents.) Participants are billed monthly.

Our staff will contact you when brochures are running low. Convenient pick-up service is available to all participants.

Lowcountry Reservation Service

To participate, contact: Walter McCants
Lowcountry Reservation Service (LRS) was created to assist our Travel Council Members (accommodations) in filling their unreserved room inventory on a daily basis. This same-day walk-in service is available at each of our visitor centers.

How it works:
Daily, participating properties contact the LRS Desk at (843)720-5687 or by fax (843)720-4688, to give our reservations staff your available room inventory and pricing for that day. It is understood that all properties give special rates discounted from the rack rate/walk-up rate to increase interest in filling their inventory. When a visitor has selected your property, our reservationist will contact your front desk to ensure that the accommodation is still available at the price given earlier in the day. If so, our staff will then ask for confirmation number to confirm room. Next the customer will then be charged, by the LRS agent, the confirmed rate plus taxes and fees provided by the property. A copy of the reservation form with confirmation numbers is emailed to the designated hotel agent as well as given to the visitor to present upon check-in.

LRS invoices participating travel council properties for a 10% commission and a 20% commission for non-participating travel council properties on each reservation it makes. During each month, a record is kept of all transactions by property, date and confirmation number. On the first of each month (or first business day) payment for all reservations plus taxes and fees will be mailed out to all properties with bookings for the previous month. A commission statement will also be sent to each property for payment on reservations made by the service. There is no guarantee of number of reservations made for any property.

Ticket Sales through Area Visitor Centers

To participate, contact: Walter McCants
Tour/Attraction/Special Event Tickets may be sold at each of the four area visitor centers. This is an excellent way to get visitors to your door! A signed agreement is required that includes the understanding that a convenience fee of $1.50 is collected on all tickets sold for $19.99 and under. A $2.00 convenience fee is collected for all tickets sold $20.00 and above by the CACVB. Additionally, a 3% credit card fee is deducted on those transactions processed via credit cards.

How it works:
Ticket sales are paid to participants twice a month, from the first of the month through the 15th of the month / and from the 16th of the month through the end of the month. Should the payment date fall on a weekend day or holiday, the payout would be made on the first business day following the normal payout date. A full report of each ticket by date, transaction, and source of payment accompanies all checks. While the visitor centers do their best to promote our members' tour tour/attraction/event, there is no guarantee on the number of tickets sold at any time or location.
