Wild About You Promotion Offers Free Admission

For the first time the South Carolina Aquarium will open its doors free to the residents of South Carolina on Sunday January 28, 2007. Wild About You, South Carolina Appreciation Day, formerly known as Community Appreciation Day, will offer free entry all day with extended visitor hours. Doors will open at 9:00 a.m. with last entry at 6:00 p.m.

“We want to let the residents of South Carolina know that we’re wild about them,” said Sales and Marketing Director Catherine Marshall. “They continue to support the Aquarium in our mission to inspire conservation by excelling in education, and in the care, display, and study of aquatic life and we want to say thanks. It is with their support we are able to serve our mission and remain Charleston’s most visited attraction.”

Aquarium Wharf partners will also be offering special deals. The Aquarium Garage will offer a $3.00 flat rate all day. The Charleston IMAX Theatre will offer guests $1.00 small popcorn and $1.00 small drinks. The new Sea Spray Café, housed in the IMAX building in the former Just Fresh space will offer a $5.00 lunch special. Additionally, hot dogs and sodas will be offered for $1.00 right outside the Aquarium.

The Aquarium is closed Thanksgiving Day, half day Dec. 24 (open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and Dec. 25. Admission prices are: Children 1 and under (free); Youth 2-11 ($8); Adults ($16); Seniors 62+ ($14).
