Turtles On The Town Unite In Preparation For Auction Event
For Immediate Release, August 2007Beginning August 20, the 34 spectacular Turtles on the Town Charleston residents and visitors have enjoyed all summer will meet on the Aquarium’s Riverside Terrace for all visitors to see. These large fiberglass loggerhead sea turtles have been transformed by South Carolina artists and displayed throughout the community since May as part of this exciting public arts project. As the turtles unite at the Aquarium from places like downtown Charleston, Isle of Palms and Kiawah Island, visitors will have the opportunity to see all of them in one location for the first time.
Not only will the turtles be the feature of this unique artistic display at the Aquarium, they will gather in preparation for their final act: the Turtles on the Town Auction Event, September 15, 2007 at 7:30 pm on Liberty Square at the South Carolina Aquarium. Each turtle will be open to bidders, offering individuals the rare chance to own a one-of-a-kind work of art for their business, home or garden. Special guest, Stuart Whitehurst, leading auctioneer and renowned appraiser will conduct the live auction of all the turtles. The evening will feature live Caribbean entertainment and tropical cuisine and drinks on the lawn at Liberty Square.
