THE FOOTLIGHT PLAYERS
The Footlight Players, founded in 1931, is Charleston’s oldest theatre tradition. Currently in its 78th season as Charleston’s only community theatre, the Footlight Players is located at 20 Queen Street in the heart of downtown Charleston. Each season, the Footlight Players presents six Mainstage shows, three Latenight shows, and hosts the Piccolo Spoleto Festival. The theatre is volunteer-based, with only five full-time staff members. The theatre’s mission is to provide the best in theatre entertainment for the Lowcountry: to provide an outlet for the talent, energies and cultural aspirations of the community; and to create and establish for the future, a theatre rooted in the traditions, needs and dreams of the community.
