CHARLESTON, SC (January 11, 2007) The Family Circle Cup is proud to announce the fourth annual Family Circle Cup official T-shirt design contest WINNER! This year’s winning submission came from 17-year-old Amy Buzhardt, a student in Priscilla Bundrick’s commercial design class at the Lexington Technology Center in Lexington, SC. It is the fourth year in a row that a pupil from Priscilla’s class has been selected as the Family Circle Cup T-shirt design contest winner. The 2007 Family Circle Cup, the longest running Tier 1 clay court event in the country, will be held April 7-15th at the Family Circle Tennis Center in Charleston, South Carolina.
In addition to the media exposure that her artwork will receive, Amy’s design will appear on hundreds of Family Circle Cup official T-shirts that will be available for retail purchase during the 2007 Family Circle Cup tournament. Her artwork will also be displayed on the Family Circle Cup website leading up to, and throughout the duration of the 2007 tournament. As the contest winner, Amy will be receiving a t-shirt featuring her design signed by many of the top tennis stars competing in the tournament, along with two tickets to the semi-finals and finals of the 2007 Family Circle Cup. Amy will also receive $100.00 in cash for her winning entry. A copy of her winning design appears on the tournament’s official website (www.familycirclecup.com).
“We had a large pool of fantastic designs to choose from this year. It’s obvious that many talented graphic artists spent a lot of time on their creations,” commented Elizabeth Skogman, Family Circle Cup Marketing Manager. “It was a tough decision, but the selection committee felt that Amy’s design really captured both the sport of tennis and the excitement of this world-class women’s tennis event.”
In October of 2006, the Family Circle Cup issued a challenge to local artists to create a 12” x 12” hand drawn or computer-generated design that reflected the image and atmosphere of the Family Circle Cup. Amy’s design was chosen from entries coming predominantly from South Carolina and the southeast. The Family Circle Cup would like to thank all of the talented artists who participated, and to acknowledge the great skill and effort that went into their submissions.
The 2007 Family Circle Cup will be held April 7th – 15th at the Family Circle Tennis Center in Charleston, South Carolina.
