The South Carolina Aquarium’s 2007 summertime theme, dubbed Something’s Fishy, will launch June 8, allowing children and adults alike to use their detective skills to uncover mysteries throughout each of the South Carolina regions represented at the Aquarium, from the mountains to the ocean.

Aquarium guests will have the opportunity to use clues, a scavenger map, a Dorsal Decoder, and the help of the five Something’s Fishy animal characters to learn more about the wonders of South Carolina’s natural world, reinforcing the Aquarium’s underlying messages of education and conservation. An “O’fishal Nature Detective” will greet guests and invite them to take an active role in the Something’s Fishy experience throughout the Aquarium. After uncovering mysteries of South Carolina’s natural surroundings, guests will become part of the Aquarium’s “O’fishal Nature Detectives” team.

“It’s fun to investigate the mysteries of South Carolina’s habitats and the animals that call them home,” says Kevin Mills, the Aquarium’s President and CEO. “Something’s Fishy will engage our visitors through an interactive experience that will give them the chance to learn about South Carolina’s creatures and environments and how we can best protect and preserve them.”

Something’s Fishy will feature several elements including:
• Five lovable characters with distinct personalities including Ollie the Otter, Carlos the Shark, Dr. Ali Gator, Harrison the Heron and Olivia the Octopus
• Dorsal Decoder and scavenger map to solve natural mysteries during visit
• Something’s Fishy Headquarters: A play area at the Aquarium featuring hands-on interactive exhibits
• Questions/clues at entrances to and inside each exhibit throughout the Aquarium
• Learning area in the conservation station
• Live mascots of Something’s Fishy characters at the Aquarium
• Photo-op: A child can have his/her photo taken as a member of the animal detective team
