Charleston, SC – After 30 years Robert’s of Charleston, known for its intimate setting of fine dining and the home of the southeast’s only “singing chef,” is sure to bring many more surprises for 2007 with the continued fine-dining experience from its culinary additions. Chef du cuisine, MariElena Dickson Raya and, husband, sommelier, Joe Raya, have stolen the spotlight around Charleston with their traditional yet innovative food and wine selections. After only a year in their new roles, both MariElena and Joe are truly making a name for themselves.
As a valued member of Charleston’s culinary scene, MariElena will showcase Robert’s of Charleston at the 2007 BB&T Charleston Food and Wine Festival as a part of the Culinary Village: Meet Your Favorite Chef/Chef Tasting. MariElena will prepare dishes from Robert’s menu for all of the guests at the festival to enjoy.
Sommelier Joe has made a great impression within the local wine community with his personally selected wine pairings from different countries around the world. After launching the “Passport Around the World” wine dinner series, Joe’s food and wine pairings have been noted in local publications, such as Lowcountry Living. Joe is continuing his wine education, looking forward to completing his advanced level with the esteemed Wine and Spirit Education Trust certificate this spring.
As Charleston’s oldest white table-cloth restaurant, owner Robert Dickson, has won the heart’s of locals and the many visitors with his Broadway entertainment. With a total of three (3) Culinary Institute of America graduates, Robert, MariElena and Joe, the Robert’s of Charleston show continues to remain in the spotlight.
