Second Annual Charleston Fashion Week—Tickets On Sale Now
For Immediate Release, January 2008
http://www.charlestonfashionweek.com

Marion Square in downtown Charleston will transform into the likes of New York City’s Bryant Park again this year for the second annual Charleston magazine Charleston Fashion Week, a five-night celebration of the city’s flourishing retail and design community.

Take a seat under the tent and watch as models breeze down the runway, sporting designer apparel from more than 30 local retailers with close to 100 designers presented. Each night, attend a glitzy after-party at a downtown hot spot and mingle with models, designers, and the Who’s Who of Charleston.

The six winners of Charleston magazine’s first Emerging Local Design Competition will debut their innovative Spring 2008 collections on Friday, March 28. These Lowcountry designers were chosen by a panel of fashion experts—including Ayoka Lucas, style editor of Charleston, and Laura Bennett of Bravo’s hit show Project Runway—based on the quality of their garments and stylistic creativity. Other judges include Lacoste CEO Bob Siegel, fashion photographer Squire Fox, and local milliner Leigh Magar.

On Saturday, March 29, say “I do” to the Bridal Couture show—featuring haute wedding gowns and attire from renowned designers such as Badgley Mischka and Monique Lhuillier—presented by Charleston’s premier bridal boutiques. That evening, help Charleston toast CFW 2008 at the Red Carpet Finale Gala in Marion Square.

A portion of the proceeds from CFW 2008 will benefit the Charleston chapter of Dress for Success, a nonprofit organization that provides professional attire, career-development tools, and a network of support for disadvantaged women.
