The Lowcountry meets the Big Apple on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 as six Lowcountry chefs prepare a six-course dinner for 80 guests at the legendary James Beard House in New York City. The dinner provides a sneak preview of the 2008 BB&T Charleston Food + Wine Festival and gives guests “A Taste of Charleston.” The city’s hottest chefs will be dishing up all the reasons why The New York Times lauded Charleston as "a new capital for regional cuisine.”

Featured chefs will be Aaron Deal, Tristan, Fred Neuville, The Fat Hen, Marc Collins, Circa 1886, Frank McMahon, Hanks, M. Kelly Wilson, Cypress, and Sean Brock, McCrady’s. Together they will prepare dishes that salute this regional cooking style while giving guests a taste of what’s to come February 28- March 2, 2008. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $155 per person. Space is limited and reservations can be made by contacting the James Beard Foundation at 212-627-2308.

“This dinner is an incredible way to learn more about Charleston and to experience the celebrated Lowcountry cuisine that makes this Festival an event not to be missed,” stated Angel Postell, Executive Director of the Charleston Food + Wine Festival.

The BB&T Charleston Food + Wine Festival will combine the city’s best culinary experiences into one spectacular weekend, February 28-March 2, 2008. A food and wine event like no other, the Festival provides guests the opportunity to meet the country’s best chefs, authors and wine professionals. Guests can educate their palates with Southern cuisine and the Lowcountry’s unique food styles, heritage and recipes at one of the 50+ events throughout the weekend.
