Artists Offer Free Lectures at City Gallery at Waterfront Park: Contemporary Charleston 2009: Revelation of Process

The critically acclaimed exhibit, Contemporary Charleston 2009: Revelation of Process continues its run until July 26 at the City Gallery at Waterfront Park. From painted glass to burned mediums and collage paintings to miniature compositions, the individual works of Dorothy Netherland, Jonathan Brilliant, Ben Timpson, Karin Olah and Ishmael create the collective exhibit, Contemporary Charleston 2009: Revelation of Process.

The project includes lectures by each artist about their mediums and processes. Two lectures by Ben Timpson and Ishmael were already delivered. The three remaining lectures are: June 27 at 2 p.m., Karin Olah; July 11 at 12:30 p.m., Dorothy Netherland; July 18 at 12:30 p.m., Jonathan Brillant.

The lectures are free and open to the public, and Exhibit catalogues with DVDs are available for purchase for $15.

The City Gallery at Waterfront Park, owned by the City of Charleston and operated by the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs, is a venue for contemporary artwork that is new, vital and innovative, with a focus on broadening Charleston’s arts outlook. The City Gallery provides access to the visual arts for everyone in Charleston, S.C., visitors and residents alike, by offering exhibits that are all admission-free.
