Charleston Marriott Business Council to Host Rally For The Cure Event

For Immediate Release, July 2011

Charleston Marriott Business Council is hosting a Rally for the Cure® Golf Tournament on September 13, 2011. Rally for the Cure is a grass roots program to spread awareness about breast health and breast cancer in support of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® through volunteer organized golf, tennis and social events. More than 1.9 million people have participated in Rally for the Cure events across the nation since its inception in 1996. This year marks the 2nd year The Charleston Marriott Business Council has rallied against breast cancer.

Marriott Business Council has limited sponsorships still open and a few slots left for teams to play for the Rally event and invite the public to take part. The day’s activities will include a shot gun start, hole in one prize sponsored by Jones Ford, closest to the pin contest, food/beverages and much more. Prizes will be awarded to the winner of the event and each participant will receive a goody bag with important breast health information and other Rally items plus a subscription to select Condé Nast magazines such as SELF, Golf Digest and Bon Appétit.

The mission of Rally for the Cure is to empower people to join the fight against breast cancer by providing a platform for them to educate their family, friends and community on the importance of early detection through an activity they are passionate about.

”The success of Rally is attributed to volunteer ambassadors who have said ‘Yes we can have a Rally at our club’. It is their enthusiasm, energy and support we value in our commitment to support Susan G. Komen,” says Diane Perillo, Program Manager, Rally for the Cure.

Since 1996 Komen has received over $60 million from Rally events to support their mission. Rally for the Cure® is based in Wilton, Connecticut.
