Sticky Fingers To Reach 80 Million Homes On First-Ever Home Shopping Network Appearance
For Immediate Release, February 2006

MT. PLEASANT, SC – Feb. 28, 2006 – National cable channel Home Shopping Network (HSN) will pull Palmetto state pork into the spotlight March 6 when it showcases Mt. Pleasant-based Sticky Fingers and its hickory-smoked ribs, chicken, barbecue and award-winning sauces.

The appearance will debut Sticky Fingers’ growing mail order business to the nation’s fourth largest cable network, which is available in approximately 80 million homes around the country. HSN is cable channel 75 or 24 in Mt. Pleasant/Charleston/North Charleston area and 12 in Summerville. Sticky Fingers’ products also will be online at www.hsn.com.

Four “Savor the Flavor: Comfort Food” segments featuring Sticky Fingers will air March 6 at midnight, noon, 4 pm and 8 pm. Sticky Fingers’ reach also will extend to 20 million more homes through appearances on HSN’s sister network, America’s Store, at 2 pm and 10 pm the same day.

Following in the footsteps of celebrity chefs and HSN regulars Wolfgang Puck and Roy Yamaguchi, Sticky Fingers mail order director Dave Lorenz will show off popular mail order packages of ribs, barbecue pork, hickory smoked wings and the restaurant’s five barbecue sauces. Viewers will be able to order immediately by phone or online.

Sticky Fingers landed the opportunity through an unlikely source. In 2004, Sticky Fingers co-founder Chad Walldorf represented the Carolinas as a regional winner to the Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” competition. While the local entrepreneurs lost the national competition to Wayne Huizenga of Blockbuster fame, the trip to the California conference led to a potential blockbuster deal for Sticky Fingers. One of the conference speakers was actress turned mail order mogul Suzanne Sommers, who sells many signature product lines on HSN. When asked how to get products on the network, Sommers told Walldorf and others to “just contact HSN President Marty Nealon and tell him Suzanne sent you.” Walldorf did just that and next week’s appearance is the result.

“I never imagined Chrissy from Three’s Company would someday provide key business advice to the three of ours’ company,” Walldorf said. “Who knows -- maybe Janet will help us negotiate the deal on our next restaurant location.”

Sticky Fingers had a record year in 2005, shipping approximately 10,000 packages of South Carolina-cooked ribs, pork, wings and barbecue sauces across the country. The HSN appearance is expected to increase sales by 25 percent, and future HSN segments could cause business to quadruple to more than 40,000 packages by year-end. Sticky Fingers has purchased an additional smoker and greatly increased production to handle the anticipated business.

The appearance follows national attention from CNBC and Food Network’s “Unwrapped” and “Food Finds.” Repeat episodes of those shows continue to boost mail orders.

“Our customers have been telling us they are thrilled to see a Lowcountry-grown company on national television,” said co-owner Jeff Goldstein, who with two pals made good on a childhood pact to open Sticky Fingers 14 years ago. “We expect that the appearance will not only be good for our mail order business but also provide a boost to sales in our restaurants and of our barbecue sauces in grocery stores.”

Sticky Fingers is a casual rib house concept with 16 locations in the Southeast - 11 in the Carolinas (including the original location in Mt. Pleasant, downtown Charleston, North Charleston and Summerville), two in Tennessee, two in Florida and the newest in Savannah, Ga. The success of Sticky Fingers restaurants has generated mail order, catering and wholesale barbecue sauce business.
