Mahi-Mahi To Enter the Great Ocean Tank

For Immediate Release, January 2007

One of only three aquariums in the United States to display mahi-mahi, the South Carolina Aquarium will place 11 mahi-mahi in the Great Ocean Tank, the Aquarium’s largest exhibit, Monday January 22 at 10:00 a.m. The 11 fish, ranging from 2-3 feet long and weighing 10-25 pounds, are currently stored in a backup area. They will be transported from the backup tank to the exhibit one at a time while remaining immersed in water during their transport.

“We are thrilled to be able to display such a beautiful fish as the mahi-mahi and are ever grateful for our partnership with Scout Boats, Inc. and the generous donation of the 28-foot 280Abaco Series boat which enabled us to go and collect the species. This fantastic enhancement to our exhibit would not have been possible without them,” said Aquarium Dive Safety Officer, Arnold Postell.

Media are invited to attend the event which will take place at the top of the Aquarium’s Great Ocean Tank at 10:00 a.m.
