Charleston International Film Festival Announces 2010 Workshops and Q&A’s
For Immediate Release, March 2010The 3rd Annual Charleston International Film Festival (CIFF), South Carolina’s premiere event for independent filmmakers and film enthusiasts, would like to announce its 2010 workshops, Q&A’s and seminars, which are being offered at this year’s festival free of charge. They include:
• The Final Cut Pro Editing Workshop sponsored by the Center for the Documentary at the College of Charleston, is a hands-on beginners workshop where you will learn the fundamentals of video editing from Dave Brown and the professionals. Two sessions are offered. April 9th, 1-3PM & 3-5PM @ 25 St. Phillips St.
• The Business of Film Distribution. "Now that I've made this awesome film, how do I get it in front of an audience?" It's a common question among indie filmmakers. Get the answers at The Business of Film Distribution Workshop. Michael Katchman, of Rivercoast Films, will answer the do's and dont's of film distribution, from a business perspective, and common mistakes and challenges faced by independent filmmakers. You will be brought up to date on the current distribution landscape and how it affects your sales and marketing efforts of your film. Michael Katchman has been in the film distribution business for 26 years with Orion Pictures, MGM, Lions Gate and First Look Studios. April 10th, 9-11AM @ American Theater on King St.
• The State of Film in S.C. The S.C. Film Commission will be giving you the inside scoop about what's happening right now in the state capital that will have an effect on filmmaking now and in the future. April 10th, 2-3PM @ American Theater.
Attendees are encouraged to ask questions, interact, and be involved in these sessions. Extended Q&A sessions will follow these sessions to answer any specific questions you may have. Bring your laptop, pen, paper, friends and ideas for these fun, educational and informative events.
