CFADA Art Galleries Present New Art Works in May 2010

In May, member galleries of the Charleston Fine Art Dealers’ Association, renowned for bringing the fine art of excellence from all over the globe to our city, will present the following special exhibitions and events:

Opening Friday, May 7th, Ann Long Fine Art, located at 54 Broad Street, will feature new works by Ben Long. The opening reception takes place on May 7th from 5 to 8 p.m. Artist will be present.

Carolina Galleries, located at 106 A Church Street, is pleased to present new work by Craig Crawford in May. The artist reception will take place on May 7th from 5 to 8 p.m.

Photographer Kevin Bruce Parent will present in his first solo show new pinhole camera photographs in a show entitled Sans Lens at Corrigan Gallery from May 3rd through May 30th. An opening reception will be held on May 7th from 5 to 8 p.m. as part of the French Quarter Gallery Association May art walk. The gallery is located at 62 Queen Street in downtown Charleston.

Helena Fox Fine Art presents new works by gallery artists William R. Davis, Donald Demers, Mary Erickson, West Fraser and Joseph McGurl. The works will be on view at the gallery as it celebrates the Spring season. The opening reception will take place on Friday, May 7th from 5 to 8 p.m. The gallery is located at 12 Queen Street.

Visit Ella Walton Richardson Fine Art to view the latest works by award-winning artist Jeff Jamison. His upcoming May 2010 show Urban Romance is one Charleston has been waiting for, with dreamy paintings that evoke emotion and simply enchant viewers. The show opens on May 7th from 5 to 8 p.m. with an artist reception. The gallery is located at 58 Broad Street in downtown Charleston.

Martin Gallery, located at 18 Broad Street, is excited to announce the opening for Nectar of Life: Wanda Steppe Solo Show. Join the gallery on Friday, May 7th from 5 to 8 p.m. during the French Quarter Art Walk. The show will run through the end of the month.

Smith Killian Fine Art presents an exhibition on May 7th entitled Southern Soul, featuring works by Shannon Smith, marking her tenth solo show with the gallery. A reception will be held at the gallery, located in the historic French Quarter at 9 Queen Street, from 5 to 8 p.m. and the show will run through May 21st.

The Wells Gallery, located at 125 Meeting Street, will be hosting an opening reception for The Birds show from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday May 7th. The gallery will be displaying new works highlighting the various bird species of the Carolinas. Featured artists for this show include: George Pate, Karen Larson Turner, Glenn Harrington, Russell Gordon, Kevin LePrince and Rick Reinert. The works will be on exhibit starting May 3rd through May 31st.

Founded in 1999, the Charleston Fine Art Dealers’ Association consists of the city’s prominent galleries working together to promote Charleston as a fine art destination for passionate art enthusiasts, avid collectors and talented artists. Since 2004, CFADA has donated more than $150,000 to local public high schools and scholarships for future artists.
