Footlight kicks off the month of March with a wild, witty, and all-together laugh-out-loud show, 5 Women Wearing the Same Dress by Academy Award Winner, Alan Ball.
Sponsored by The Hat Ladies and directed by longtime actor/director, Catherine Shroka, this wickedly funny play opens on March 12, 2010 at 8:00pm at The Footlight Players on 20 Queen Street and runs through March 28, 2010.

Set at an ostentatious wedding reception in Knoxville, TN, five reluctant, identically-clad bridesmaids hide out in an upstairs bedroom, each with her own reason to avoid the proceedings below. They are Frances (Darielle Deigan), a painfully sweet, but sheltered fundamentalist; Mindy (Adrianne Dukes), the cheerful, wise-cracking lesbian sister of the groom; Georgeanne (Andrea K. McGinn) whose heartbreak over her own failed marriage triggers outrageous behavior; Meredith (Carole Moore), the bride’s younger sister whose precocious rebelliousness masks a dark secret; and Trisha (Jennifer Metts), a jaded beauty whose die-hard cynicism about men is called into question when she meets Tripp (Tony Nappo), a charming bad-boy usher to whom there is more than meets the eye. As the afternoon wears on, these five very different women joyously discover they all share a common bond – beyond their bridesmaid dresses. 5 Women Wearing the Same Dress contains strong language and brief nudity.
Footlight Players and The Hat Ladies are in high fashion once again as we turn Footlight’s Lobby into the “Best Little Dress Shop” in town! Fashion designers from all over Charleston and the U.S. have contributed their own unique designs in participation of our Fashion Fundraiser. Fashion items (including jewelry and accessories) will be featured in Footlight’s Lobby throughout the entire run of 5 Women Wearing the Same Dress. Audience members will have the chance to buy the fashion items and can even have the item custom-fit. The Fashion event will be a fundraiser that directly benefits the Footlight Players: the sold items will have a percentage of the total cost donated to Footlight.
Footlight Players is partnering again with McCrady’s Restaurant & Bocci’s Italian Restaurant for a dinner/theatre package just for you. Enjoy a fabulous 3 course meal and fine-dining experience at either McCrady’s Restaurant or Bocci’s Italian Restaurant and a ticket to see 5 Women Wearing the Same Dress. Each restaurant is conveniently located 1 block from the Footlight Players Theatre and is perfect for a date night out.
