Avelo Airlines adds second nonstop route at Charleston International
Avelo adds first ever non-stop service to Wilmington, Delaware

(North Charleston) – Avelo Airlines announced today it is expanding service at Charleston International Airport (CHS) with exclusive nonstop flights to Delaware’s Wilmington Airport (ILG). Avelo will be the only airline flying between The Holy City and The First State. Service from CHS to ILG begins June 23.

“Charleston – say hello to Avelo, again,” said Andrew Levy, Avelo Airlines Chairman and CEO. “This new route to the Wilmington / Philadelphia area exemplifies our ongoing commitment to bringing Avelo’s low fares, industry-leading reliability and caring service to Charleston travelers. Getting to the four-state Delaware Valley region is now easier than ever.”

"Avelo’s decision to schedule service to Wilmington not only illustrates the Lowcountry of Charleston’s appeal to residents of the Delaware Valley but also provides our travelers more options when planning their trips,” said Elliott Summey, Executive Director and CEO at Charleston International Airport. “We look forward to Avelo continuing to increase their nonstop destinations in the Charleston region.”

Avelo’service from CHS to Wilmington will operate twice-weekly on Mondays and Fridays utilizing Boeing 189-seat Next-Generation 737-800 aircraft. Introductory one-way fares between CHS and ILG start at $39*.

"Today's announcement expands our route map to not only a new city but a new state, and we appreciate Avelo's addition of a second destination from CHS," said Helen Hill, CEO of Explore Charleston and Chair of the Aviation Authority. "This service also increases service between the Lowcountry and the broader Delaware Valley, which, beyond Delaware, encompasses portions of southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and the northern Eastern Shore of Maryland. We look forward to welcoming visitors from this four-state region and increasing ways for Charleston area and Delaware Valley residents to more affordably and easily connect with friends, family and vacation opportunities."

Wilmington Airport is conveniently located a short drive south of Philadelphia - offering a refreshingly smooth and simple hometown airport experience. ILG’s adjacency to multiple major highways makes it the Delaware Valley’s most convenient and travel-friendly airport.

Avelo will now serve two nonstop destinations from CHS. Wilmington will join Connecticut’s most convenient airport — Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN).
