Comfort Suites Opens In West Ashley - Environmentally Conscious Hotel Offers More Value
For Immediate Release, September 2009

Comfort Suites West of the Ashley, a franchise of Choice Hotels International, Inc., is now open in Charleston. The hotel is located at 2080 Savannah Highway at the intersection of 526, Highway 17 south and Sam Rittenburg. City of Charleston staff has dubbed the hotel ‘”the new southern gateway to the city.”

“This hotel fills a need as it’s close to historic downtown, the airport, hospitals and many services and attractions,” said Eddie Buck, Jr., hotel developer and owner.

All rooms are suites, giving guests the space they need to work or relax and unwind. With top-of-the-line pillow top beds, large flat screen televisions, free high speed wired and wireless internet access, a full size sleeper sofa and microwave, a night spent away at Comfort Suites® can be more relaxing than a night at home. Deluxe suites are ideal for a large family or an extended stay with a full kitchen and jetted tub.

The hotel features a heated indoor pool, fully equipped exercise studio, business center and on-site laundry facilities. All guests are invited to enjoy a complimentary hot continental breakfast each morning.

“Whether you’re traveling with family on vacation, coming to Charleston for a meeting, convention or even a wedding, we can accommodate your needs. We have 100 guest suites and two large conference spaces,” said Steve Spear, General Manager.

The hotel participates in an optional environmental program called “Room to be Green” that offers on-premise recycling for staff and guests, guestroom towel and linen reuse and energy efficient lighting. Employee uniforms are even made from recycled materials. This hotel is 100-percent smoke free.

Local management company Integra Hospitality, LLC will oversee operations. With more than 30 years of management experience, Buck says David Kalik of Integra has brought the operational experience needed to make the project a total success.

“It’s great to work with a company that’s locally owned and operated,” said Spear. “There is a family feel here and we hope to pass that on to our guests.”

“This project finished two months ahead of schedule under the direction of Grae Rambo and Graham Rambo of Construction Professionals Incorporated,” said Buck.
“In a tough economy, it’s especially important to complete a project on time and within budget. We are now ready and excited to welcome guests to our beautiful new hotel.”
