Returning for his second year at the BB&T Charleston Food + Wine Festival, Celebrity Chef Sam Talbot will once again delight guests and raise money for a cause close to his heart. Talbot will join the Festival for two of the weekend’s spectacular events. As Bravo’s 2006 Top Chef finalist and fan favorite, Talbot will join the Festival at the Culinary Village on Saturday, March 1 from 4:30-5:30PM for the Fresh on the Menu’s Celebrity Chef Cooking Competition. Teamed up against James Beard Foundation award winner’s Matt Lee and Ted Lee, the three chefs will cook-up dishes with Lowcountry-themed mystery ingredients. The audience is encouraged to judge their favorite contestant as the exciting competition carries on and a panel of judges will vote on the best dishes based on set criteria.

Talbot, a juvenile diabetic, will also serve a three-course menu for thirty guests during Sunday’s Lowcountry Gospel Brunch (sponsored by NBSC and Charlestowne Hotels) at 11:00AM on March 2. Fifty dollars of each ticket purchased for Talbot’s VIP section directly benefit the MUSC Diabetes Center, one of the Festival’s charitable causes. As a native of Charlotte, NC and Johnson and Wales University at Charleston graduate, Talbot’s southern roots will ensure a delectable, down-home brunch for his special guests.

The BB&T Charleston Food + Wine Festival is set to combine the city’s best culinary experiences into one spectacular weekend, February 28-March 2, 2008. A food and wine event like no other, the Festival provides guests the opportunity to meet some of Charleston’s and the country’s best chefs, authors and wine professionals. Guests will have the opportunity to taste Southern cuisine and the unique flavors of the Lowcountry at more than 50 events throughout the weekend. Highlights include the Celebration of Charleston Chefs Opening Night Party, the Restaurant Dine-Around, Bubbles & Sweets, the King Street Sip & Stroll, the Lowcountry Gospel Brunch and the BBQ & Blues. An expanded Culinary Village takes over Marion Square Park in downtown Charleston with two Grand Tasting Tents, a Culinary Competition, Cooking Demonstrations, Chef Tastings and more.
