In conjunction with its special exhibit From Slave to Sharecropper: African Americans in the Lowcountry after the Civil War, the Charleston Museum hosts a four-part documentary film series. The Rise and Fall of Jim Crow offers a comprehensive look at race relations in America between the Civil War and the Civil Rights Movement. A life of severe limitation for African Americans in the South, defined by legal segregation known as "Jim Crow" shaped the social, political and legal history of the period.
