Pack your picnics and bring a blanket! The Charleston Symphony Orchestra returns to Smythe Park on Daniel Island on May 17th for a free lakefront concert. Now in its fourth year, this community event has become a favorite for island residents and visitors alike. The concert is presented by the Daniel Island Community Fund and will feature a spectacular fireworks finale immediately following the Charleston Symphony Orchestra’s performance.
Prizes will be awarded for the most elaborate and creative picnic spreads, with set up starting at 5:30 pm and judging beginning at 6:30 pm. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and beverages for their picnics. Ted’s Butcherblock will be offering a multitude of items for sale including beer, wine by the bottle and the glass, hot sandwiches and a selection of gourmet-to-go items to add to guest’s picnic menus. Tasty treats from Mr. Koolie will also be available for sale. The concert will begin at 7:00 pm. Come early for a good spot and be sure to stay for the spectacular fireworks display after the performance!
Admission is free and parking will be available in the Daniel Island School parking lot on Daniel Island Drive. The rain date is Sunday, May 18. From I-26, take I-526 east to exit #24. Turn right at the first light onto Seven Farms Drive, then left at the next light onto Daniel Island Drive. Follow for approximately one-half mile to Smythe Park. From Mt. Pleasant, take I-526 west to exit #24. Turn left at the third light onto Daniel Island Drive. Follow for approximately one-half mile to Smythe Park.
