The Youth Orchestra of the Lowcountry, under the direction of Richard Marcus, will present its first concert of the season on December 11, 2007 at 7 pm at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke and St. Paul, 126 Coming Street. The orchestra, which is co-sponsored by the Charleston Symphony Orchestra and the College of Charleston, is an auditioned group consisting of thirty-five of the best young musicians in the tri-county area.
The program includes the first movement of Beethoven’s monumental Fifth Symphony, Dance of the Tumblers from the Snow Maiden by Rimsky-Korsakov, Strauss’s Emperor Waltz, selections from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, and some favorite holiday carols.
The performance is free. Donations to the Youth Orchestra of the Lowcountry will be accepted. For more information, please call 953-5927.
